mySociety is hiring an open source web developer
mySociety is an award-winning charitable project building websites
that deliver simple, tangible benefits to people in the UK. Since
2003, we have set up many of the UK's best-known internet democracy
websites, including TheyWorkForYou, FixMyStreet, PledgeBank, and the
10 Downing Street e-petitions site.
We are now looking to hire a web developer with exceptional user
interface design skills. This is a rare opportunity for an outstanding
individual to join our small team of paid developers, work on
ground-breaking new projects, and help shape the future of both
mySociety and our democracy.
Technical skills
* World-class skills in one or more of PHP, Perl, Python or Ruby
* Expertise in open source operating systems, databases, and version control
* Experience of working in a team with other programmers,
contributing to project architecture
* Experience of accessible, standards-based web design
* Fanatical obsession with usability
Personal qualities
* Self-starter, with the ability to manage own work and to work
both at home and with colleagues
* 'Completer-finisher' personality, with track record of
delivering projects to deadline
* Team player with strong communication skills
