Company Description

 

My client Group – an Anglo-French company and Europe’s largest online photo service, with projected turnover of around 40M€ in 2007. The emphasis is on very high quality customer service and products for which they have won many awards. The group has technology teams and production operations in London and Paris. The company is still growing quickly.

 

Main Purpose of Role

 

To oversee and coordinate the front-end web development team on a day-to-day basis and to contribute to the hands-on development of web pages and components on time and to specification.

 

Relationships

 

*	Reporting to the Web Development Manager in London. 

 

Main Tasks of Job and Skills required

 

*	Follow project specifications and timescales 
*	Estimate development timescales for new components 
*	Excellent hands-on knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Javascript, XML and AJAX methodologies. 
*	Ability to maintain ‘middle layer’ code in Perl and Mason. Strong object-oriented Perl experience is a must and any knowledge of Mason an advantage. 
*	Ensure appropriate use of our internal API. Experience of web services would be very useful. 
*	Use SVN to manage source code and releases. 
*	Liaise effectively with testing team 
*	Assist junior team members 

 

Other requirements

 

The job is based in West London (NW10). The candidate must be a well organised individual and clear communicator. They must have a track record of strong productivity in a development environment. This is an urgent vacancy so a short notice period would be an advantage.

 

Salary £40 - £45K but there may be some flexibility on this for an exceptional candidate.
