PERL APPLICATION DEVELOPER

NET-A-PORTER is an established global Internet retailer of cutting edge

The Role

As an experienced Perl developer, this role will be a key position in
Net-a-Porter’s expanding IT department, primarily to support changes and
improvements to the back office systems. Experience with relational
database based mod_perl systems and therefore SQL experience would be a

Responsibilities:

Systems Development

Become the primary point of contact for all enhancement and problem
resolution requests with respect to NET-A-PORTER’s bespoke, in-house
warehouse, stock, order and customer management application. This will
include:

    •  Requirements gathering and problem specification
    •  Perl/Mod_Perl application development
    •  SQL development (primarily PostgreSQL)
    •  Front end HTML/CSS/JavaScript user interface development

Ongoing Development Work

A large component of this role will be to integrate closely with the
Operations team to ensure that the Warehouse Management System is
tightly aligned with their process flows and requirements

Essential Skills & Requirements
    •  Proven experience with Perl/Mod_Perl development in a
       process-driven environment
    •  Familiarity with the Perl Template Toolkit
    •  Proven experience of developing rich, web-based user interfaces
       using HTML/CSS and JavaScript
    •  Proven experience in translating user requirements into technical
       specifications
    Requirements gathering and problem specification

    •  Articulate with good writing skills
    •  Healthy dose of common sense and initiative a plus.
    •  Great sense of humour and attitude

Location

Your primary location will be at our head office in Bayswater, W2, but
you will be required to spend some time at our Distribution Centre in
Greenwich
