Perl Application Developer 

We are looking for an experienced Perl developer to join our back-office team and contribute to projects that are fundamental to the continuing growth of the business.  Reporting to the Application Lead, successful candidates will be passionate, competent and diligent programmers who are used to delivering successful projects

The Role:
*Develop a good understanding of business requirements.
*Work closely with other team members and the Business Analysis, Project
Management, QA and Technical Operations teams
*Estimate, build, test and deliver high quality, web-based Perl applications
*Ensure that work is well-planned, written, tested, and documented
*Work with internal customers to flesh out requirements and develop specs
*Provide 3rd line support of production systems (in-hours)
*Identify and help plan improvements to systems
*Keep up with industry trends and experiment with new tools, technologies and development methods with a view to adopting best practices that fit the business

Essential Skills and Requirements:
*Able to produce high-quality web applications
*Able to develop web-based user interfaces (HTML, CSS) & APIs (JSON & XML)
*An excellent understanding of Perl & Linux conventions
*Knowledge of CPAN modules and frameworks, particularly:
oDBI, DBIx::Class, Catalyst, Template Toolkit and Moose
*Experience building and testing high-availability applications
*A good understanding of:
oPerl testing frameworks
oSQL (ideally Postgres / MySQL)
oVersion Control Systems (SVN, SVK, P4, VSS, Git etc)
oApache/FCGI
*Believes in common code ownership
*A good understanding of refactoring
*Exposure to:
oAJAX & Javascript
oAgile development methodologies
*Exposure to JavaScript frameworks (ideally YUI & jQuery)

We are looking for candidates with the following:  
*Articulate with good writing skills 
*Healthy dose of common sense and initiative a plus. 
*Great sense of humour and attitude

This role is based in our Head Office in W2.
