Photobox is Europe's leading online personal publishing and printing
service.  Based metres from Paddington station, Photobox's central
London office hosts the Scrum teams responsible for development of the
Photobox website.  Following agile methodologies the teams build the
large scale heavy volume customer facing sites, internal admin tools,
and the API that glues it all together.  They're domain experts in
what they do, be it anything from developing rich interactive user
experience with JavaScript to spinning up hundreds of cloud based
servers to cope with a surge in customer demand.

An ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about modern Perl programming
and have a passion for HTML, CSS and all things in the browser.  They
would enjoy working in closely knit teams, interacting directly with
business owners, and care about delivering solutions on time that
provide customer value.  The candidate would look forward to learning
about cutting edge Perl and HTML technologies and working with the
developers deploying them.

* Subversion or other source code management system
* Experience of a web services architecture

Main Tasks

* Follow project specifications and timescales
* Ensure appropriate use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, AJAX,
object-oriented Perl and Mason
* Use Subversion to manage source code releases
* Use appropriate tools to manage tasks
* Assist in providing development timescales and estimates
* Assist in providing technical feedback on business functional requirements
* Ensure line manager is kept informed of current progress and any
problems and/or dependencies

Personal Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills:
* creativity and flair for creating compelling, fun and easy to use
AJAX/Web 2.0 services
* a track record of strong productivity in a development environment
* a well organized individual
* a clear communicator will all levels of the technology department
(from colleagues to CTO)
* able to ensure consistent IT standards are followed
* able to work as part of a team
* EU citizen or HSMP/other work permit with at least 2 years remaining
* Written/spoken French would be an advantage but is not essential
