My client is an expanding web based company in London and they are
offering an exciting long term opportunity for a Perl Developer.

THE TECHNOLOGY 

Relying on cutting-edge web crawling solutions and advanced linguistic
search algorithms, the company's proprietary technology makes extensive
use of highly sophisticated pattern recognition and machine learning
techniques. All of the company's technologies are UNIX-based and use
exclusively open source software, the essential part being written in
object-oriented Perl. The business' current growth strategy includes
expansion into a broader range of programming languages and frameworks. 

THE POSITION 

An ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of professional
experience in software development and a solid knowledge of the Perl
language, with a passion for development of Web applications and
UNIX-based software. He or she would have a high aptitude for learning
new development principles and design patterns under the control of the
company's Senior Engineers. We will have a strong preference for
candidates looking for a long-term commitment, wishing to grow quickly
in our highly flexible professional environment offering very close
attention to each Team member. 

- Full proficiency in OO Perl 
- Solid knowledge of Object Oriented design principles 
- Advanced understanding of modern software architecture principles
(API, ORM, MVC, design patterns, optimisation, refactoring, etc.) 
- Solid understanding of relational database design principles, full
command of SQL 
- Full command of UNIX 
- Overall knowledge of Web technologies (languages, protocols, browsers,
development tools, etc.) 

- Knowledge of HTML::Mason and Template::Toolkit 
- Experience with localisation and internationalisation 
- Good command of HTML and CSS, JavaScript, in particuler jQuery would
be a plus
