My first "real" project was a thermal simulation system
for a heating cable manuf. It modelled heating cables
in 2/3d over time using block relaxation on a 96K pet.
It used a dual floppy drive as model memory and
read from one disk and wrote to the other.

It took an entire weekend to run the model!

At Cray we had (as demo) a full skin, stress simulation
model of an entire 747 built on an M90.

Obtech: both systems used memory segments, neither had
VM :-)
