Some employers might not let you use a non-employers supplied e-mail
systems from employer supplied computer systems. Some employers have a
legal responsibility to track *all* messages send by employers.

Yes and autoresponders that don't discriminate between internal and
external addresses (let alone mailing lists) are a very silly idea
indeed. But this wheel just keeps on being reinvented.
