FWICR "broon" in its home town is something else to that shipped to the
"suthin bastids" - From someone who used to work in a now defuct NE
brewery told me, adding "flavouring" to an export batch when someone is
a tad unwell or unhappy does happen, which may explain the difference
in taste down here :-)

p.s.
My family[0] consider broon to be stuff alkies and people with no taste
buds drink. Of course, that may just be because of where it originates :-)
[0] from Sunderland - makems not geordies.
