Google Calendar and Atom problems

I knocked up a quick and dirty interface to Google's new Calendar API

but I just can't get it to post an event.

I'm pretty sure I'm following all the steps mentioned here 

	http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/calendar.html#find_feed_url

but no matter what I try (including using their example XML rather than 
my own generated stuff) I cannot get it to return 201 Event Added, only 
200 OK.

Given that I imbibed deeply of Deuchars' finest last night it's possible 
I'm being dumb. Many eyes to make the bug shallow would be greatly 
appreciated.
