We've had good success finding OO PHP developers who've decided they don't 
like PHP anymore and teaching them perl. Not only do they tend to not mind 
boring stuff, they often actively enjoy it at least for a while because 
they're now doing boring stuff in 1/10 the number of lines of code :)
