What's so wrong with using a well documented, well supported standard vs 
a bunch of hacked together non-standards?

I hear a lot that people avoid XML because of bad experiences with 
XML::Simple not doing the right thing. Do you also avoid web programming 
because cgi_lib.pl was kinda broken?
