[OT] external drives

Right,

So, I've been searching to find out which external hard drives / 
enclosures are compatible with Linux.

My guess is that most are, but I am having no luck googling for any that 
say they are or are not compatible.

Ideally I'd like to be able to go buy an external enclosure that can 
take 500/750Gb drives with USB2 and firewire on the back.

There are hundreds out there, but until I get one home I'm not sure it 
will play nice with Hippie-OS.

Any mongers got recommendations for or against specific products?
