I have a friend who's been misdiagnosed with ME for about four years.
She's recently discovered that she actually has Lymes disease (from a
tick bite - she's a mountain biker) which could have been treated
quite effectively with early diagnosis. Having had it for four years
it's likely to have had a permanent effect on her.

So I'll see another a professional on the off-chance that I get one
of the good ones - but I have more faith in Google :)
