capturing bash history

Thanks for the learned replies.

I'm going to give this a try and see if the performance is OK:

PROMPT_COMMAND='history | tail -n 1 | /path/to/local_pperl_sensor.pl'

If not, the fallback is to go for interleaving the history file and slurping it in periodically.
