It *is* on topic if this list is trying to cover first year CS
or research into new sort algorithms.
For me, it is not even a fun thing to do.

Now making XMLRPC::Lite or Frontier::* go faster and *NOT* eat 97%CPU 
(other langs eat 3%CPU for same tests) and come even close to
10% of the reqs/sec C/Java performance would be impressive.
