When someone reinstalled Windows on a laptop not realising that it
had unique work on it I used knoppix to dd the drive image to a box of
mine and grovelled through it with this.
It's not pretty but in a few days I had some of the stuff.
A recovery company asked about £120 for an initial look to be followed
by a quote for real work if it looked possible.
