Yes. The difference is in which order they are layered onto each other, and
thus the subsequent levels of protection against failure.

On a related note, my favourite RAID-related misconfiguration - assuming I'm
watching from a distance and have some popcorn to hand - is where somebody
has configured a two disk RAID1 mirror with one disk and one hot spare.
