It was suggested to me in a private conversation that perhaps this
kind of sponsorship might be more cost-effective if it happened at a
regular social[0].

(Of course there may be very good reasons why you chose a short-notice
one-off meet rather than a well-advertised regular social for the
dispensing of free beer, in which case ignore this suggestion.)

[0] This would be particularly useful at the March social, as I have
promised the lovely landlord of the Edgar Wallace that we will drink
at least 400 quid's worth of beer.  He is a very nice man, and has
agreed to waive the charge/deposit for staffing the upstairs bar, and
I would hate to disappoint him.
