What new fields hasn't Perl entered into that Python or Ruby have ?

Bio-informatics - perl is pretty damned popular there, we've had
speakers from The Sanger Institute at LPW talking about what they do.
Python and ruby aren't really used that much in bio-informatics.

Finance - Perl is surprisingly popular there, even to a fanboy like me.

Compiler Design - The parrot and perl 6 guys are pushing boundaries
and doing new things in that area too.

ORMs and Frameworks ? Perl does well here.

I'll grant you, Perl isn't exactly kicking ass in computer games or
CAD, but I don't see much Python, Java or Ruby there either.
