I know this is a little unusual, but I need to find the right person to
fill this job, and figured they may be hanging out here. Please feel
free to repost this anywhere else FLOSSy-type people hang out.
Job: Open Source Editor, heise online
heise online UK (http://www.heise-online.co.uk/) is looking for an
editor to run its Open Source channel. heise online (rhymes with visor)
is the UK's newest technology web site, and focuses on practical advice
for the technical expert based on our own research, not just what the
vendors want you to know or are willing to tell you. heise online is
published by Heise Media, the UK arm of Germany's most successful
technology publishers, Heise Verlag.
The successful candidate will know their GPL from their BSD, be able to
explain the advantages of ODF and understand what a SCM system does.
Previous journalism experience not necessary, but excellent
communication and research skills are required. The ability to explain
highly technical concepts clearly and concisely is vital. A cool head
under pressure is also desirable. As well as managing the content for
the Open Source channel, the editor's job involves being an ambassador
for the site, so they must be comfortable speaking in public, and mixing
with people from the industry in various settings.

editing news and features, including translations of German articles.
The job will involve occasional foreign travel, and some work in the
evening. The Open Source editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief of
heise online.
CVs should be sent to jonathan.bennett at heise-online.co.uk before 29th May.
