Ah, OK.  Fairy snuff.

I don't know much about it myself, except to know that it existed and BioPerl
DB had an ORM layer for genome-related databases (which I assume they've spent
some time optimising).  I wondered if there might be a few tips or tricks to
be picked up from glancing at their schema/queries.
