Pub socials start essentially "after people are done with work".  This
means anytime after six, but they go on till pub close with many
people turning up throughout the evening depending on their commute.
The socials are booked in places that offer food[1] so you can eat in
the pub if you want (or grab food before or after, or just drink the
beer it's up to you.)
