I was thinking how I could help with this appeal and thought of all
those old CDs and DVDs I no longer needed.
MSDN discs from Microsoft
CDR and DVR discs that failed to record
Magazine CD inserts

I have managed to find about 2000 discs for this appeal so far.

Can anyone else on London PM help with the appeal? I am willing to help
co-ordinate collection and to get the discs to Bruce.

Bruce Munro soon to create an inland Sea at Long Knoll, Wiltshire

Bruce Munro, creator of the Field of Light installation at the Eden
Project in Cornwall last winter, has launched an appeal to collect old
CDs which will be used to make his new installation, CDSea, in Spring
2010. Munro has collected a large number of CDs from various sources
including local recycling plants, but he needs more, and this is why he
has launched an appeal by placing a double page adverts in idFX and FX
magazines and support from BBC Radio Wiltshire.

"CDSea", will be installed at Long Knoll in Wiltshire, and it will be
the first of a number of self-funded installations using discarded
materials.

Long Knoll Field next to Munro's workshop, is a 10 acre field.
Installed in this setting, CD Sea will be on public view from the
moment it is completed. Munro conceives it as an inland sea, made with
one million discarded CDs laid over the field. The aim is to create an
inland sea of shimmering light by day and night.
