I've seen some good one man shows at the Leicester Square Theatre,
memorably including Stewart Lee. The 99 Club is pretty good. Just The
Tonic put on some good nights too.

If you want up-and-coming (i.e. you've never heard of them and some
will be crap) comics you can try Soho Comedy Club most weeknights.
Avoid Monday nights there if that's what you're looking for, you're
more likely to find established comics trying new material.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I've never been
attracted by Jongleurs / Comedy Store stuff, YMMV though.
