1. A Word on our Sponsors
This years London Perl Workshop is shaping up to be a great event and
that is due in no small part to the sponsors of the event. In the past
few weeks several new sponsors have joined up for the event. A full list
of our current sponsors is:

AntiBodyMX:
Proud sponsors of the workshop for many years and organisers of the
after-event pub, make sure you grab Martin Brooks by the hand and shake
vigorously (or perhaps subscribe to his excellent product).

Booking.com
New to the LPW but familair to anyone who has attended a YAPC::EU,
Booking.com are proud sponsors of the Perl community and we welcome them
to the conference. Booking.com will be attending the Job Faire.

:Bytemark Hosting
Returning to LPW this year is the geek-lovers at :Bytemark Hosting, if
you want a reliable, knowledgeable hosting company then you should go no
further than :Bytemark.

Enlightened Perl Organisation
Sponsoring the LPW once again and this year providing business services
(accounts and invoicing) free of charge to make a smooth running event.

Magnum Solutions
Dave Cross at Magnum Solutions will once again be conducting training at
the workshop. Dave is a respected member of the community and a trainer
who commands respect so a free training session is always a big bonus
and Dave will once again be delivering the goods.

Nestoria
Returning to the LPW for another year are the great bunch of chaps at
Nestoria. Once again they will be awarding prizes at the end of the
conference for the best speaker/best presentation etc., so the challenge
is on to entertain the best and win a great prize from Nestoria.
Nestoria will be attending the Job Faire.

OpusVL
New to the LPW is OPUSVL, if you see JJ at the conference then you
should seek him out and talk to him about Enterprise Solutions. OpusVL
will be attending the Job Faire.

Science Photo Library
Also new to the LPW is the Science Photo Library, if you need an image
of high quality with a scientific basis then this is a must visit site.
Also it is fun to browse the extensive and high-quality collection.

Shadowcat Systems
Keen supporters of the Perl community and providers of infrastructure
and sponsorship to a range of Perl-related activities and events. SCSYS
are also a specialist consultancy and software development house and are
once again providing sponsorship and time for the organisational aspects
of the LPW.

University of Westminster
Our proud hosts and excellent supporters of the Perl Community. We are
once again grateful to be hosted by the Department of Electronic,
Communication and Software Engineering.

Venda
Returning again this year are Venda who will be providing generous
support to our after-event activities and in-conference events. Venda
are consistent sponsors of the LPW and we welcome them back again this
year. Venda will be attending the Job Faire.

WCN
WCN are first-time sponsors of the LPW and have generously contributed
to the prizes for the Lightning Talk Bingo (see below). WCN will be
attending the Job Faire.

2. The Job Faire
This year we will be hosting a Job Faire for those sponsors who are
seeking Perl Developers or offering internships with their companies. If
you know of any company who is hiring Perl Developers and wish to use
this opportunity to approach some very talented Perl programmers then
please have them contact Mark as soon as possible.

3. Lightning Talk Bingo!
The wonderful and innovative Mr Edmund von der Burg will this year be
running a new game designed to fit smoothly (I hope) into the events of
the day. it is curiously titled Lightening Talk Bingo and will be run,
without any great surprise, during the Lightening Talks. There will be
prizes awarded during the bingo and if it works as a concept it may be
repeated at other great and august events. If of course it is a total
failure we can all point and laugh at Edmund, so there really is no loss
:)[1]

Prizes to be announced, probably along with more details on the bingo.

4. Talk Submissions and Registration
Just to remind you that the last date for talk submissions is the 12th
November which is only a fortnight away so make sure you register/sign
up/submit as soon as you can. There are still no clear front runners for
the coveted place of Keynote talk. It could be your presentation that is
chosen.
For everyone else remember to register for the conference as early as
possible as it gives us a good indication of numbers for sponsorship
items and events.

As always, your humble organiser,

-Mark (mdk)

[1] We should actually be thanking and applauding Edmund for his
innovation and enthusiasm to make a better event for all.
