The one thing I did wonder is if it was a mismatched error code.

On Solaris this

perl -e'warn $/, $! = 65'

prints

Package not installed

under OSX it gives

No route to host

I wondered this too - mismatch in API versions potentially except I'm 
running the latest version of everything.
