Historically this wasn’t always the case*. When ubuntu first got going, their packages were a little faster to load than other distros because they were the first to use LDFLAGS=-O1
That, and that it does take a little bit of domain knowledge to know how to properly tune for what it is you’re doing. Many sysadmins do not have this experience.
