Just to elaborate on Sue's kind explanation:

I make my entire living from speaking (in one form or another). And I
ask not to have my community talks recorded because I also sell many of
those presentations to paying clients...who generally wouldn't buy them
if they could just download them for free from YouTube.

So, whereas most speakers have a programming job that subsidizes their
occasional speaking, speaking *is* my day job and subsidizes my
occasional programming. Hence it's a question of only giving away my one
saleable "product" in small samples, rather than distributing it for free to the
entire world.

I genuinely regret that I can't allow my talks to be more widely distributed.
But then I'd be forced to get a real job...and that's clearly not in anyone's
best interest. ;-)
