    		<p>Citing geographical inconvenience <person>Simon Wistow</person> steps down and long time 
    		<a href="/about/faq.html#heretics">heretic</a> <person>Greg McCarroll</person> takes over.</p>

            <item title="London Perl Workshop - Dec 1st 2007">
    		<p>The fourth <a href="http://conferences.yapceurope.org/lpw2007/">LPW</a> sees Westminster University hosting over 160 Mongers. <person>Dave Cross</person> runs a free Perl Beginners' course which quickly fills to cpacity.</p>

            <item title="London.pm Teach-in - Jun 2nd 2007">
    		<p>Former glorious leader <person>Dave Cross</person> runs a <a href="/teach-in">free training day</a> at the BBC. It is wildly successful and hugely popular.</p>
    	</item>
    
    	<item title="London Perl Workshop Dec 9th 2006">
    		<p>The third annual <a href="lpw-2006">London Perl Workshop</a> goes like a charm.</p>
    	</item>
    	
            <item title="New leader - Jan 23rd 2005">
    		<p>After 2 years and 2 months <person>Mark Fowler</person> stepped down and <person>Simon Wistow</person> was elected in an uncontested race.</p>
    	</item>
    
            <item title="London Perl Workshop - Nov 26th 2005">
                    <p>The <a href="/lpw-2005">second London Perl Workshop</a> was held at City University. Special guest was Mark Jason Dominus.</p>
            </item>
    
            <item title="London Perl Workshop - Dec 11th 2004">
            	<p>The <a href="/lpw-2004">inaugural London Perl Workshop</a> was held at Imperial College Union. Special guest was Casey West.</p>
            </item>
           
            <item title="New leader - Dec 5th 2002">
                   <p><person>Paul Mison</person> stepped down as leader after a year and <person>Mark Fowler</person> was elected in his place.</p>
            </item>
    
            <item title="New leader - Dec 13th 2001">
    		<p>After a a battle the likes of which will never be seen again, <person>Paul Mison</person> (aka Blech)
    		has been elected our new leader. He takes over from <person>Dave Cross</person> who has
    		put vast amounts of energy into running the group for the last three years
    		and to whom the group owes it's very existence. Many many kudos to him.

            <item title="YAPC Europe 2001">
                    <p><a href="http://www.yapc.org/Euorpe/2001/">YAPC::Europe 2001</a></p>
                    <p>Yet again members of London.pm were involved somewhat in the
                       organisation of a YAPC::Europe, this time in Amsterdam between
                       the 2nd and 4th of August.  Lots of
                       us attended and spoke as well.   It was fun.

    		<p>Of course, at the time there was only one <a href="/about/faq.html#heretics">heretic</a>.</p>

            <item title="Damian Conway Sponsorship">
                    <p><a href="http://www.yetanother.org/damian/">Damian Conway</a></p>
                    <p>Many members of London.pm donated substantial
                       sums of money to the fund to sponsor
                       Damian Conway to work on Perl for the
                       whole of the year 2001.  And he came and spoke to us, which was nice.
    		 </p>

                    <p><a href="http://www.yapc.org/Euorpe/2000/">YAPC::Europe 2000</a></p>
                    <p>Members of London.pm were heavily involved in the
                       organisation of the first YAPC::Europe which was
                       held at the ICA in London on 22-24 September 2000.  Many of us
    		   gave presentations. 
                    </p>
