We have just started looking to add someone to our small development
team working on our digital video delivery platform at MPC and I thought
it was once again worth plundering the talents of London PM...

MPC is one of the world's leading post production facilities creating
high-end digital visual effects for the television and feature film
industries. Based in Soho, MPC's continued success is dependent on a
continued investment in technology so that its clients continue to
enjoy the highest possible quality of work and service. Key to MPC's
offering is MPCTV, a web-based system for allowing clients to exchange
digital assets and monitor their work in progress as it moves through
the facility. Due to increased demand, MPC seeks to appoint a Web
Developer to join the existing development team to work on adding new
features to MPCTV in addition to some other internal web-based tools.
The appointee's core responsibilities would include:

* Develop in-house software as part of a small team
* Delivering new features to meet agreed deadlines
* Fixing bugs and troubleshooting problems with the live system
* Keeping documentation up to date
* Proposing new developments to further improve software.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
* A minimum of 2 years experience with Perl development on Linux
* Experience of developing web-based tools with a database backend
(such as MySQL).
* Experience of technologies including Apache, svn, PHP, HTML, CSS,
Javascript, AJAX and frameworks such as Cake, Django and Genshi
* Proven team player with good organisation and communication skills
* Experience of back-office development is an advantage as is any
exposure to VFX
* A passion for web technologies, user interface design and video.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-end technologies
delivering valuable digital assets to some of the leading names in the
world of commercials and feature films. If you are an ambitious
software developer looking for an opportunity to work with cutting
edge technology then send your application (covering letter and CV)
to: jobs at moving-picture.com.
