* Full-time onsite Senior Perl Developer Opportunities at  Active Securities.

Location:
* Central London W1

You will be joining a small but dedicated team who are given the freedom to excel. You must be passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and usability. With few formal meetings, your day might cover working with the sysadmin, implementing algorithms with data analysts or generating financial reports for top management.

Based in central London, Active sees itself as a technology firm first and finance operation second. Active has been recognised as Britain's 9th fastest growing privately owned technology firm in the 2013 annual Sunday Times Tech Track 100 and as we continue to grow rapidly we work with all levels of Perl programmers. Our in-house platform is based on the LAMP stack (Perl).


Modules used in our systems:
* LWP::UserAgent, XML::TreeBuilder, HTML::Template, Date::Calc, MIME::Lite, SOAP::Lite, PDL, plus many more


Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain our in-house Perl systems, including customer and management Portals and software
* Engineer and test integrations with third-party data providers
* Actively collaborate within and across teams, share designs and discuss issues


Essential skills:
* Database/SQL, particularly MySQL
* CGI
* At least some Web Development experience: HTML, JavaScript, CSS
* Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems & comfortable using Linux on the command line e.g. Bash
* Revision control systems


Desirable skills:
* Knowledge of maths and finance
* RedHat Linux Enterprise Server 5/6
* Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, sockets
* Secure programming techniques
* mod_perl and Ajax with Perl
* SOAP, XML
* PDL
