Perl/CPAN v. Ruby ?

I don't have any interesting input, but it's a topic I'm very interested in.

I had an idea to start by looking at Phalanx[1] and seeing what Ruby 
support was like for those 100 modules.

I may well still get round to doing this if I ever get any more spare time.
