always welcomed.
My $work is looking for 2 technical personnel,
a mid level sysadmin and a jr. sysadmin.
In short we're looking for people that would like to get their foot
into the world of visual effect or high performance computing.
I'll be honest with you, there's no silly money involved and you will
have to talk to users but the people are nice and there's a lot of
interesting stuff going on.

Title : Production Systems Administrator
MPC is one of the world's leading post production facilities creating
high-end digital visual effects for the advertising, music,

There is currently a vacancy in the Systems team for the intermediate-
level position of Systems Administrator. The role offers the
successful candidate great potential to advance technical skills,

from specialist digital media colleagues.
Key Accountabilities
The company seeks to appoint a Systems Administrator into this team
to ensure the ongoing smooth running of the production systems and
develop them further to meet business needs. Core responsibilities
include:
· Ensuring systems run reliably and perform as required
· Working with R&D team to build and install new in-house software
· Developing tools and systems to increase efficiency
· Identify upcoming requirements, recommend and implement
solutions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
· You should have a keen interest in computer hardware and
operating systems
· A degree is not required but the ability to learn quickly and
think on your feet is essential.
· Proven team player with good organisation and communication
skills
· Knowledge of a range of operating systems and the PC hardware
platform.
· Accuracy and attention to detail
· Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity
· Competency in UNIX-like operating systems.
· Minimum of 2 years UNIX/Linux system administration experience
· Understanding and familiarity with:
· RDBMS (e.g. MySQL)
· Network fileservers and appliances. (NFS / SMB)
· Software version control systems; svn/RCS/CVS etc.
· Software package management (RPMS)
· Red Hat Linux/Fedora Core
· Familiarity with scripting languages. One or more of Bourne/
Csh, Perl, Python or PHP
Desired
· Previous administration experience on a Linux/BSD based network.
· Enthusiasm and commitment to learn about and get involved in
departmental activities.
· Knowledge of C programming language and GNU/C compiler
infrastructure
