Just looking at it now. From a few random searches I'd say it's  
indexing things like the mod_perl mailing lists but not the perl.org  
lists. I can't, for example, see any posts from p5p in there.

Since http://spork.markmail.org/ works too I guess it's just using the  
first element of the domain name to inform the searches. It's probably  
not a hand picked selection of Perl lists.
