Glossary

From the Perl manpage :

    	    Perl is a language optimized for scanning arbitrary text files,
    	   	extracting information from those text files, and printing
    	   	reports based on that information.  It's also a good language
    	   	for many system management tasks.  The language is intended
    	   	to be practical (easy to use, efficient, complete) rather
    	   	than beautiful (tiny, elegant, minimal).

Perl Mongers (http://www.pm.org ) is an organisation which offers services to local Perl users' groups. These services range from arranging speakers from the Perl community to supplying web space and mailing lists.

Perl Mongers is part of The Perl Foundation (http://www.perl-foundation.org ) which is in turn a unit of Yet Another Society (http://www.yetanother.org ). Perl Mongers has no legal connection with any of the local user groups.
